1MW Wave Energy Converter
Mean Sea Level’s Modular Split Momentum design (UK Patent Pending) utilises individual stacked concrete capture units, staggered specifically to work together in optimizing the capture wave power in a common buffer dam. This “overtopping”-type wave energy converter consist of reservoir with a 50m long sloped wall facing the oncoming waves, and will have a height of 5m above mean sea level.
Our unique combination of innovations has never been tested on a full-scale prototype, but after 3 years of extensive modeling and wave tank testing, MSL is now constructing a full scale 1 MW demonstration plant. The 1MW demonstration wave energy convertor is being built in Western Cape, South Africa. Recognizing the technology’s potential, MSL’s industrial Partner has agreed to enter into an off-take agreement for this demonstration plant.
