The project proposed to develop, finance, own and operate a 100 MW on-grid solar photovoltaic power plant with energy storage in the Southern Province of Zambia, close to the town of Livingstone. Land for the project was provided by the Mukuni Royal Establishment. The project owners committed to a comprehensive corporate social investment and micro-enterprise development plan for the region that is being developed by the African Foundation for Sustainable Development.

Outcome and Impact:

During the project period the land was acquired and Africa Foundation for Sustainable Development (AFSD) completed the Community Needs Analysis as well as the Environmental Impact Assessment. The Grid Integration Study and geotechnical scope of work were planned to commence in Q2 2017.
