Devergy East Africa

Decentralised Rural Energy Solutions

This project piloted a novel process innovation (“eSquared”) designed to address the constraints of business growth, such as limited market information, underdeveloped infrastructure and scarce human capital. The project implemented two field-based iterations of the model in the context of Devergy micro-grid operations, and publish lessons for broad dissemination. The project generated new, field-tested operational knowledge supporting the acceleration of global investment into the rural energy sector.

Outcome and Impact:

During the project period, annual emission reductions of 176 tCO2eq were achieved. This project reached 924 rural households, creating direct jobs for 27 people, 9 of which were permanent. From renewable energy systems, there was 16.98kW of newly installed electricity generation (MW) installed.
