DIVI IT UP: INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGIES FOR UNDERSERVED POPULATIONS

This project distributed pay-to-own solar products throughout rural Namibia. Beneficiaries of the project were rural poor individuals that were empowered to purchase a high-quality solar-powered light/charger.

Outcome and Impact:

This project reduced carbon emissions by 559 tCO2eq annually. It also reached 5,537 households reached through lamp sales. This project created 10 full time jobs, 80% of which were youth. EET also created 157 part-time positions over the length of the project in the form of sales agents.  At least 81 MWh/year reduction of energy needs, through the sale of 5,591 products, some of which are capable of producing more than 1 watt of energy for the owner.
