EEP in Africa Energy Indaba

EEP in Africa Energy Indaba

On 17 and 18 February EEP Programme Director Wim Jonker-Klunne participated as panelist in the yearly Africa Energy Indaba conference. The Indaba was organized in close collaboration with the World Energy Council, the NEPAD Planning and Coordinating Agency, the Southern African National Energy Association and the Gauteng Department of Infrastructure Development.

The event was very well attended and hosted the Director General of the South African Ministry of Energy, Dr. Worsley Barnard, who delivered the keynote address, and many other energy luminaries.

Next to an extensive exhibition, the conference saw several parallel sessions in which different prominent issues in the energy field in Africa were discussed and debated. Quite a number of them were very relevant for projects typically supported by EEP.

At the Energy Efficiency session the EEP Programme Director provided his insight in the barriers for the uptake of energy efficiency projects, the role of national targets for energy efficiency as well as the role that can be played by programmes like EEP.

Please note that the 8th annual Africa Energy Indaba will be hosted at the Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg from the 16 – 17 February 2016.
