Job Opening: M&E Advisor

EEP Africa is seeking a Monitoring and Evaluation Advisor to join our dynamic international team.

The Energy and Environment Partnership Fund (EEP Africa) is looking for an expert with a strong background in monitoring and evaluation (M&E), a solid understanding of the developing clean energy sector in Africa, and excellent communication and writing skills.

We value an ability to manage complex M&E assignments in challenging operating environments and to analyse diverse sets of data and translate these into high quality reporting and communication material. The ideal candidate has M&E experience related to large donor funded programs or projects, the clean energy sector, and the region of Southern and East Africa.

EEP Africa is a multi-donor clean energy trust fund hosted and managed by the Nordic Development Fund that operates in 15 countries across Southern and East Africa. EEP Africa supports early stage companies with financing, business development services, knowledge production and events.

The M&E Advisor will be responsible for implementing the fund’s M&E strategy, conducting M&E visits to projects, and ensuring effective and compelling reporting and analysis. The Advisor will be closely involved in portfolio monitoring and the development and delivery of knowledge and communications products.

The ideal candidate would be based in one of the countries covered by EEP Africa but candidates based in other locations will also be considered. The position requires extensive international travel in Africa and other regions.

This is a half-time position but the M&E Advisor plays a key role in the EEP Africa team. The position is part of a vibrant international and interdisciplinary team of professionals in the clean energy space. The team is committed to developing the sector and making a positive impact on clean energy access in the countries in which we operate. We are continuously learning from previous experiences and developing new ways to effectively support our portfolio companies.

Qualifications, experience and skills of the M&E Advisor:

  • Master’s Degree in field relevant to the role;
  • Expertise in monitoring and evaluation of large donor funded programs or projects;
  • Deep background and experience in the SEA region, including in the clean energy (or related) sector;
  • Ability to analyse data and adapt it into compelling and effective narratives and graphics;
  • Stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is required; knowledge of French or Portuguese would be an asset.


The starting date is negotiable. Please note this is a half-time position.
