Ndurumo Sustainable Energy Partnership
The project faces the rural electrification challenge with a long-term strategy based exclusively on renewable energy sources, providing access to electricity and supporting the sustainable economic growth of rural areas as well as reducing the population’s vulnerability to climate change. This scale-up project applies an innovative business model focused on a bilateral approach, based on a virtuous cycle in energy consumption and a partnership with local community that will become shareholders in the utility with an equity value given to the connection fee. Ndurumo Sustainable Energy Partnership is a project aim at providing an affordable and reliable electricity service from hydroelectric power source to rural population living in Thuura, Giaki, and Kiburine locations, in the Imenti North District, County of Meru, Kenya.
