This project aimed to provide direct access of over 450 small holder farmers to SunCulture’s systems through system sales to farmers. The project was designed to bridge the company’s funding needs to take it to commercial bankability in 2016 by meeting early stage growth funding needs. SunCulture provides solar photo voltaic irrigation systems for plots up to several acres in size, combined with agricultural extension services that make it cheaper and easier for small holder farmers in Kenya to grow high‐value horticulture. The company’s drip irrigation systems consistently and reliably deliver water and other inputs directly to crop roots, resulting in dramatic yield gains and water savings over current standard practices thereby improving smallholder farmer incomes.
