The Brighterlite Kenya Project (BKP) aimed within 5 years to provide 1M Kenyans with a tailor-made financing-lighting solution based on size (cost) of Solar Home Systems and length of credit period, matching the monthly family savings made on paraffin.

Outcome and Impact:

Bright Products AS shipped 6,136 units of solar lanterns to Kenya, which were received in May 2017. A further 14,000 units were ordered in September 2017 and shipment is expected to arrive in Kenya in November 2017. RDS currently has 3 shops in Western Kenya. In addition, they have one shop in Kisii Town. RDS has trained over 100 agents of which 27 are active and 15 have permanent locations.
