Knowledge Exchange Forum 2014

The EEP S&EA was hosting its first Knowledge Exchange Forum (KEF) on 29th October 2014 in Johannesburg, South-Africa.

The KEF attracted almost 80 participants including the donors and national coordinators, project developers, research institutes and other stakeholders. The event was opened by Mr. Petri Salo, the ambassador of Finland in South-Africa and chaired by Mr. Mark Sampson (https://africaclockwise.wordpress.com/).

The main objectives of the forum were to increase awareness and brand image of the EEP Programme, share lessons between the participants and connecting actors in the renewable energy and energy efficiency sector. Moreover, the KEF provided information on how to apply for the EEP funding.

The day was built around two panel discussions; RE/EE business models and socio-economic benefits, and succeeding in bioenergy sector in Southern African region. The panelists represented the EEP project developers and other RE/EE experts in the region. Both of the topics rouse a lively discussion around policies, financing the projects, and the best business models for off-grid energy solutions.

During the KEF, the first EEP Project of The Year was also awarded. ECO team wants to express our warmest congratulations to Devergy who was selected as the winner. Read more about the project here.

A feedback of the event was very positive. Thank you for all who participated and made the day a success!
