More than 400 eligible applications received for innovative clean energy solutions

We at EEP Africa are thrilled to see the high number of applications received under our recent Call for Proposals. A total of 411 companies, start-ups and social enterprises submitted eligible expressions of interest covering productive use of energy, e-mobility, clean cooking, electricity access, power generation, mini-grids, and energy efficiency & storage.

Some initial observations of the applications show that 13 of the 15 EEP Africa target countries were represented, with the highest number of applicants from Kenya and Uganda. Furthermore, we can also see that the promotion tour in January resulted in an increased number of applications from Malawi, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Around 20% of the applicants were women-led companies or women entrepreneurs. Most lead applicants were locally-driven companies.

The EEP Africa team has reviewed all the submitted expression of interests and invited the longlisted applicants to a virtual bootcamp and a pitching session. Following the pitching sessions, the shortlisted applicants will be contacted by the end of June, and they will have time to finalise their full proposals by mid August 2023. Final decisions will be announced at the end of September 2023.

We want to thank all the companies that applied! If your application did not make it to the next stage this time, please keep an eye out for our next Call for Proposals in early 2024.
