The EEP Africa team is collaborating with partners to conduct an active outreach campaign for its Call for Proposals on Clean Energy Powering Green Growth. Some highlights from February-March include:
In collaboration with the Embassies of Finland and Sweden, EEP Africa held workshops on Renewable Energy and Financing for Private Sector Development in Harare, Zimbabwe and Lusaka, Zambia. Companies, social enterprises and others working in the clean energy sector of both countries were invited to learn more about EEP Africa and other Nordic private sector financing instruments available to companies in Africa. The EEP Africa team was represented at these events by Jussi Viding, Project Manager, and Anouk Verheijen, Southern Africa Portfolio Coordinator.
EEP Africa was invited to present information about the call at two events in Stockholm, Sweden. Jussi Viding of the Nordic Development Fund spoke at a meeting of the Green City Cluster of the Swedish-East African Chamber of Commerce (SWEACC) and at a Clean Energy Powering Green Growth seminar hosted by the Sweden-Sub Saharan Africa Chamber of Commerce (SSACC) at Tillväxtverket, the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth. Both organizations are working to promote sustainable business relations, trade and investment between companies in Sweden and Africa.
The Africa Innovation Network invited EEP Africa to present at its seminar on Funding Your Business in Africa in Johannesburg, South Africa. The event aimed to promote cooperation between Nordic and African companies and increase access to finance. Our Head of Portfolio and Finance, Lauri Tuomaala, shared information about EEP Africa and the call for proposals with a select group of private companies and financiers.
Finally, the global audience was reached through a webinar about the call hosted from EEP Africa’s home base in Helsinki, Finland. Over 100 people participated actively in this online event. Following an initial introduction to the call’s theme and process, the EEP Africa team fielded questions from the audience for over an hour. Questions and answers from the webinar were also added to the FAQ on our website.
Thanks to all our partners for helping spread the word about EEP Africa’s latest funding opportunity!
