The project aimed to provide reliable and affordable electricity to 1500 households, 80 trading centres and 10 institutions in Geita district in rural Tanzania. These would be served through 10 biomass mini-power plants (32kW each) generating power distributed through micro-grids. The plants would be operated and managed by local entrepreneurs in these villages.
During the project period 1600 rural and urban households gained improved access to off-grid clean energy. 45 of direct jobs created whereof 15 jobs were for women and 30 jobs for youth
