The project consisted of a bid-ready wind energy project of 48 MW in size. The wind energy project was, at the beginning of the project period, in the latter stages of its bankable feasibility study which the project partner, Electricite de France (through its local subsidiary, Innowind) has been undertaking and has funded for some years. The generated energy was intended to feed into the overall grid energy supply of South Africa via participation in the REI4P programme described above. The project made use of modern wind energy turbines of approximately 3 MW each in size.
