Gigawatt Global Cooperative conducted a feasibility study in order to develop, finance, construct and connect a 7.5 MW grid-connected solar PV field in Gitega province, on a parcel of privately leased land.
During the course of the project Gigawatt Global managed to secure a power purchase agreement with the Burundian government. The agreement covers a period of 25 years. Land was secured and permits were acquired to use the land to the construction of the solar PV plant. The grid study was completed and the grid was determined to be stable and extensive enough to handle the load and intermittency of the solar PV plant.
Gigawatt Global Named EEP Africa Project of the Year 2020
