The project aimed to build a 35kWp solar mini-grid or micro-grid in the eastern province, at the Rushonga market place. This mini-grid would provide access to clean energy to 40 small local businesses and 140 families and stimulate many income generating activities in Rushonga.

Outcome and Impact:

The project has an installed capacity of 30kWp and a battery bank of 336kWh which can supply up to 500 rural households with renewable energy. Through the cycle of the project development 39 local temporary employees were hired.
