In this project a feasibility study and a site selection survey were completed for Rwanda’s first large-scale solar and energy storage generation project. The study served two purposes. Firstly, it aimed to demonstrate the feasibility of adding an 8 MW solar array enhanced with an 8 MWh of lithium-Ion battery energy storage to the Rwanda grid. Additionally, the project hoped to show more broadly that solar, when combined with energy storage is a viable planning asset for more than 50% of the planned 3x expansion of the Rwandan grid.
