Shared Solar Tanzania

Sustainable Economy Solutions (SES) implemented the SharedSolar TZ project, which aims to scale up smart solar micro-grids in rural and underserved locations of Tanzania. Under the EEP grant, SES tested two tiers of micro-grid service, productive activities and commercialisation of advanced metering infrastructure. Initial locations were selected in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and Minerals are all fishing communities in Tanzania.

 

Outcome and Impact:

During the project period, SES developed organisation infrastructures by setting up an office and recruiting technicians. Workshops, seminars and trainings were held with local village leaders and households in the Mafia district of Tanzania. The detailed engineering design was completed and mini-grid systems were procured and installed.
