Reclaimed Land Solar PV Power

The project aimed to develop a bankable Feasibility Study to setup a 5MW solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant on reclaimed land in Seychelles. Using an innovative renewable energy approach, the project expected to overcome the constraints of land availability and legacy electricity infrastructure on the islands – by building a modern PV solar plant connected to existing grid network thus reducing the dependence on legacy diesel generators during the day.

The project expected to generate 8,800 MWh of clean electricity each year which would be sold to the Utility under a long term Power Purchase Agreement finalised with the Regulator. The project aimed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by about 10,500 tons of CO2 per annum and have the capacity to power around 900 households in Mahé, Seychelles.
