Ndurumo Sustainable Energy Partnership was a project aimed at providing an affordable and reliable electricity service from a hydroelectric power source to rural population living in Thuura, Giaki, and Kiburine locations, in the Imenti North District, County of Meru, Kenya.
Milestones along the permitting process were reached with the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum, the Energy Regulatory Committee, and the national utility Kenya Power. Social activities were conducted by the project partners AVSI and CoWA and local communities benefited from an improved environment to face the energy challenge through exploiting new business opportunities, increasing savings by promoting Village Savings and loans Associations and sensitising local people on access to electricity and how to exploit it for a better living condition.
