PAYG CLEAN ENERGY SOLUTIONS FOR RURAL HOUSEHOLDS

Zonful Energy is the first national PAYG solar company in Zimbabwe that focuses on providing energy access to rural communities through the sell of solar home systems. The company distributes the SHS in various districts across the country, targeting low-income, rural households, 80% of which are headed by women. For many of such households, this SHS has been their first-time electricity connection. With EEP Africa financing, Zonful scaled up its successful customer acquisition and distribution strategy to a national level.

Outcome and Impact

Through this project, Zonful Energy has set up two distribution centres in Gutu and Mutasa, and has distrbuted and installed 7,300 SHS uplifting over 36,000 people out of energy poverty. The project has created 248 new jobs.
